MP4 to text: turn a video file into a transcript
Upload an MP4 and get the spoken words as text, with speakers, timestamps and an SRT file for subtitles.

Converting MP4 to text means transcribing the audio inside the video file. Upload the MP4 to voxnoto and you get the transcript split by speaker, subtitles you can export, and a summary if the recording is long. Nothing to install, and the video never has to be converted first.
How to convert an MP4 to text in four steps
Open voxnoto and click Upload. Drag the MP4 in from your computer or phone.
Wait a few minutes while the audio track is transcribed.
Read the transcript, rename the speakers, fix any word in place.
Export as TXT for the text, or SRT for subtitles.
What's usually inside an MP4
Recorded calls and webinars. Zoom, Teams and Meet all export MP4. It's the file sitting in your downloads folder after a call you meant to rewatch and never did.
Screen recordings and demos. Loom, QuickTime and Windows Game Bar save MP4. Transcribing turns a walkthrough into a written guide.
Camera and phone footage. Interviews, talks and course videos come off most cameras as MP4 or MOV.
What you get back
The transcript. Every word, split by speaker, with timestamps you can use to find the moment in your editor.
Subtitles. An SRT file that YouTube, any social platform and every editing tool accept.
A summary. A two-hour webinar becomes something a colleague reads in a minute.
A translation. 99 languages in, translation out, subtitles included.

Size, length and quality
- Files up to 8 hours. A long recording takes longer to process, but it isn't split.
- Resolution doesn't matter. voxnoto reads the audio track, so a 480p screen recording transcribes as well as a 4K camera file.
- Sound does matter. A headset mic beats room audio; background music under speech makes the transcript worse.
- No conversion needed. Don't extract the audio first, upload the MP4 as it is.
Other formats
Not an MP4? voxnoto also reads MOV, WMV and MPEG video, and audio files like MP3, M4A and WAV.
